Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-12

These terms govern your use of the Batbrief Android app (com.gpm.batbrief), provided by Gabriele Proietti Mattia. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, do not install it — and uninstall it if you already have.

What Batbrief is

Batbrief reads an Android bug report, or a dumpsys batterystats dump, and produces a diagnosis of what drained the battery, together with suggested actions. It runs entirely on your device and sends nothing anywhere.

Licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control. You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute it, and you may not remove or alter attribution or notices in it.

Where the source code is published, its own licence governs the code — these terms cover the distributed app, not the repository.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It is a personal project, not a commercial product with a support obligation.

What the analysis is, and is not

Batbrief produces an interpretation of a diagnostic file, for information only. It is not a measurement instrument and not a repair service. Specifically:

Do not rely on this analysis for any decision where being wrong matters, including anything relating to safety, warranty claims, hardware faults, or the condition of a device you are buying or selling.

Your bug report is yours

The app processes a file you choose to give it, locally. You are responsible for the file itself: a bug report contains a great deal of personal information about your device, and sharing one with anybody else — including in a support request about this app — exposes all of it. Batbrief neither uploads it nor asks you to.

Things outside anyone’s control

Android decides whether it will produce a bug report, how long it takes, what goes in it and how it is laid out. Manufacturers change all of that. No promise is made that the app will work on any particular device or Android version, or keep working after a system update.

Acceptable use

Do not use the app unlawfully, and do not use it to analyse a bug report from a device you do not own or are not authorised to inspect.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gabriele Proietti Mattia is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for loss of data, device damage, battery drain, or any loss arising from reliance on the analysis or on a suggested action, or from the app failing to produce one.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Consumers keep their mandatory statutory rights, which these terms do not limit.

Availability and changes

The app may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time, and these terms may be updated; the current version always lives on this page, with the date below. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and may bring proceedings in the courts there.
